Here's a synopsis of the Steering meeting from the 13th of November Our new definition of "who we are" as a user group: --------------------------------------------------- We are devoted to providing support, education and social interaction for anyone interested in Linux, regardless of skill level or computer background. Any individual, business, or organisation is welcome. Regarding the structure of our meetings: ---------------------------------------- We need to try to bifurcate each presentation, to deal with a GUI perspective, and then from a Command-line perspective. We are trying to acquire a machine (preferably a laptop) to use for our Q&A sessions and for Installfests. We will set it up to multi-boot into several common Linux distros. We are thinking about having more frequent Installfests, maybe even monthly. Next Installfest - 22 Jan 2005 Regarding organisation and leadership of group: ----------------------------------------------- We've decided to keep the changes to a minimum. The future organisation will still be informal, and when I step down I will appoint a successor. The current SyrLUG organisational chart (including recent volunteers): - Coordinator - Jym Williams Zavada, run meetings, coordinate presentations | +- Setting up external training - OPEN (suggested by Elliot Dudley) | +- Publicity Coordinator - Corvus Elrod | +- Website Development - Scott Brady | +- Newsletter - Jim Dishaw (Chief Editor) | | | +- Len Kaplan (News Editor) | +- Corvus Elrod (Graphics and Layout Editor) | +- Installfest Coordinator - Mark Krentel | +- Syrlug Server Administration - Mark Krentel, Jym Williams Zavada | +- New Member/Attendee Coordinator - Mike Miller
