I had similar problems when running Netscape. It had a habit of grabbing 98%
of my CPU and RAM which caused the kernel to thrash as it attempted to swap
memory. Not Good.

I now run Mozilla M18 (stay away from Netscape 6). It's still in alpha but I
find it to be about as stable as Netscape 4.x. The big advantage is when it
crashes it simply disappears. No resource grabbing. No kernel thrashing.
The memory leaks are there but, again, they aren't as bad as Netscape 4.x.
