It's on your Mandrake install CD. Or, (for everybody else) if you're using
almost any other distrobution in the world: It's on your install CD :-)

There's graphical package install utilities that you might be able to use to
install it but I'm unfamiliar with those. For now, try this.

1. Become root
2. insert, mount, etc. your Mandrake install cd
3. Assuming your cdrom is at /mnt/cdrom, type the command:

rpm -Uhv /mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS/gcc-2.[tab key once or twice]

4. If you're using the BASH shell (you probably are), hitting the tab key will
finish off the filename for you. (I don't know it off the top of my head)
Hit return.

That should be it. But there's other gcc-related packages you may be
interested in installing.

ls /mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS/gcc*
... will give you a list of packages starting with gcc.

rpm -qpi /mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS/gcc* | less
... will give you a description of each of those packages.

These are the ones I have installed:

[mike@glint mike]$ rpm -qva | grep gcc

Good luck.

P.S. Are you taking a C++ class at a local college?
