Mel,

I think that after you run the fips utility and verify that it did indeed
shrink your fat partition, then you go into the mandrake install and dont
click on "Use Free Space on the Windows Partition". You would want to set up
the free sapce you made with fips manually. I think you were getting the same
error after fips because you were clicking the same button and it was still
trying to use there perl utility(yuck!) to pull space from the FAT partition.
Remember to always split up "/","/home", and sometimes "/var". That way
adding new partitions in the future can be done more easily.
