Since the remote system is Linux, your shell there is probably bash.
Bash, like all shells, has an auto-logout feature, in bash's case
controlled by the environment variable TMOUT (a rather odd name).
Try "echo $TMOUT" to see if it's set to some number like 300 (seconds).
If so, either increase its value with "export TMOUT=nnn" or unset it
with "unset TMOUT".

There are several other links in the chain that could kick you off,
but this is probably the most likely one.
