I have recently installed Mandrake 8.2 on an older PC to eliminate the last
MS box in our house. But, alas, I have been unable to make the mouse work.

I get a gpm error message on bootup:

gpm: opps() invoked from gpm.c(976)
/dev/psaux: No such device or address

I also get the following error when starting X:
(EE) xf860penSerial: Cannot open device /dev/psaux

I have checked the /dev directory and sure enough, a symbolic link psaux was
present. It pointed to a file /dev/misc/psaux. I tried changing the
XF86Config file to reference that file instead, but to no avail.

Now, what is really odd is the first time I booted the machine, I started up
KDE and the mouse was working. I loaded and tested some software, and shut it
down. When my wife got home and powered it up, no mouse. I have no idea what
changed.

Any suggestions?

I appreciate any advice or suggestions you may have...

Dan
