Hello, I recently upgraded from kernel 2.4.18-19 to kernel 2.4.18-27. To do
this, I had to rebuild both my video and audio drivers. The video rebuild
went off without a hitch, but when I tried to install the updated ALSA audio
drivers (which had worked fine in the earlier kernel) I got only crackling
static out of my speakers when attempting to play audio. I tried installing
from a tarball and using the latest kernel-specific RPM, but neither made any
difference in the sound. I also tried removing all the modules after each
installation and then modprobing them again, but this made no difference.

I'm using a VIA 8335 Southbridge integrated chipset for audio, and this has
worked fine with the older kernel and ALSA drivers. Does anyone have any
suggestions that might help to get the ALSA drivers working?

Thank you!
