Dave:

Are you saying the connector on the IDE cable is proprietary and thus
will not fit a standard IDE header or drive?

Could you be more specific on the model and other details? Look at the
side, back and lower areas of the case. Should me more specifics there.

I do know that Compaq stores drivers and other essentials on a hidden
Non-DOS partition but am not clear about what you are asking.

DO let us know what you mean by "too small of a connection."
