I'm trying to get an HP 7510e parallel port CD-RW working on my RedHat 6.2
machine (with kernel 2.2.14-5.0).

I've verified that I have devices /dev/loopx and /dev/sgx for x=0..7.

The next step suggested by the CD-Writing HOWTO is to run "cdrecord -scanbus"
(as root). What I get are the messages:

Cdrecord 1.8 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2000 Jörg Schilling
cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are

which are singularly unhelpful.

I've already tried loading (via insmod) the modules parport, parport_pc and
paride. That didn't help.

I guess I'm missing some critical bit somewhere, but I'm not even sure what
to look for at this point.

Any suggestions?
